Infocom Corporation, based in Tokyo, Japan, Signs Marketing Agreement with Desert Scientific Software

17 Jul 2011

Desert Scientific Software Pty Ltd (Sydney, Australia) has entered into an agreement with Infocom Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) to market their drug discovery software in the Japanese market.

The agreement, initially for a period of 12 months, will sound out the Japanese market for Desert Scientific Software proprietary chemoinformatics software. DesertSci’s products are well established among the top tier pharmaceutical companies in Europe and the US, with 4 of the top 10 companies now using their toolkit software. This agreement provides an exciting opportunity for Desert Scientific Software to expand into a very important market and will help to build long term relationships within the growing Japanese pharmaceutical industry.

Desert Scientific Software’s flagship product, Proasis2® is a protein structure database and visualisation system. It provides a fast, comprehensive tool for chemists undertaking drug discovery by hiding routine yet complex computational methods behind an easy- to-use web interface. This is particularly relevant for the medium sized pharmaceutical firms typical in the Japanese market. By using Proasis2®, productivity of the scientific workforce is increased and the time of expert computational chemists is expanded to focus on the more advanced problems faced within the drug discovery projects.

Mr Katsuo Kunugi of Infocom Corporation, said “Infocom is very delighted to have an opportunity to explore the business possibility with Desert Scientific Software. Infocom will be investigating market needs in the Japanese pharmaceuticals industry and accessing the market acceptance of Proasis2® based on the pre-marketing activities.”

Infocom Corporation was established in February 1983. Infocom carries out wide-ranging business development centered on the areas of medical services, and drug discovery support and drug information, beginning with genomes with the keyword “drug”. In the field of biosciences, in addressing the new “post-genome” era, Infocom aims to further strengthen their business foundation, including expanding solutions in the fields of proteomes and molecular design.
